Another year

Well apparently 2009 has arrived and once again I find myself asking "where the heck did 2008 go". Joel and I returned home from Kelowna early Wednesday morning and was promptly greated by the bitter cold weather that I had hoped would dissapear while we were gone. As I mentioned in my last post Christmas was different this year but it was still good. We were imbraced by friends and family, and all though it was quiter then usual it was still wonderful. We spent Christmas eve with some close friends of the family which is always full of fun and accumpanied by lots of good food, goodies, and many laughs. Christmas Day started early in the morning with stockings, presents, Pancakes with Wipping cream and Stawberries, a game of monopoly(my least favorite game in the world) followed by Joel my sister and myself rushing out the door to visit the geandparents. We drove to Penticton where we would spend the afternoon/evening with my grandma and grandpa DeRoche and my Auntie Jo and Uncle Jim. Once again there where many laughs, way too much food, full stomachs and not to mention my grandpa. As you can see he was up to no good as usual.
Joel was really happy when he opened his new skies. This made me happy because I was sure that he had figured out what he was getting for Christmas, I guess I'm sneaky enough for the sneaky club and he had no idea. On Saturday we drove up to Silver Star to spend the day with Jeremy and Amber, and Joel got to test out his new double clackers. We had a really good time visiting. Amber and I drank hot beverages by the fire while Jeremy and Joel braved the cold.

On Sunday Morning Joel and I got to pick up my mom and dad from the airport. My dad had open heart surgery on the 22nd and we were really happy that he was able to come home before we had to leave. I cooked my second successful turkey in celebration of them coming home and ruined my second batch of stuffing. It's a good thing that it's the thought that counts because the stuffing was really bad.
As you can see below my dad is wearing The Riders grey cup shirt we gave him last Christmas, it only took open heart surgery to get him to wear it :) Anyways, our trip to Kelowna was great, although I wish we could have stayed longer so I could helped my mom and Dad out, deffinetly the worst part of living 2 provinces away. Please keep my Dad's healing and my mom's strength in your prayers. Until next time, keep fit and have fun.
